The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is an agency of the State of California. It has jurisdiction over the nine counties in the Bay Area, including Marin County.
The job of the BAAQMD is to regulate the stationary sources of air pollution in these 9 counties.
The BAAQMD has just opened a process to consider basically eliminating the ability to sell water heaters and space heaters that work by burning natural gas, effectively forcing all such devices to be all-electric.
You can read their agenda for this HERE.
You can see their staff presentation on this topic HERE.
As followers of the Council will know, the Council is considering an ordinance requiring All-Electric construction for new buildings in the Town. In doing so, the Council is not only following the growing trend in California (South San Francisco just passed an All-Electric ordinance; the trend is rapidly accelerating), but also actively preparing us for the future we will see soon; helping us to avoid spending money on things that will be quickly made obsolete and unavailable.
Thank you for being part of this Town's fantastic future!
