Covid or Climate?

I presume that most people who read this blog know that the IPCC issued its latest report a few weeks ago, notifying us that it is now clear that humans are driving climate change; that it is going to get worse in the short term; and that we have the ability, and the urgent imperative, to bend that curve now.

That word came, of course, as the Delta variant is accelerating our current wave of Coronavirus infections. We are dealing simultaneously, now, with issues of covid, and wildfires, and calls for action on the climate.

Yesterday, more than 200 medical journals around the world published an open letter to the world declaring that:

"Health professionals are united with environmental scientists, businesses, and many others in rejecting that this outcome is inevitable. More can and must be done now — in Glasgow and Kunming — and in the immediate years that follow. We join health professionals worldwide who have already supported calls for rapid action."

The need for all of us to do what we can, and to demand the same of our elected officials, has never been greater.

Together, we can make the needed change happen.

Forward this blog to a friend; sign up for it; sign up for Deep Green; join us. And, whatever you do, never buy another device that burns fossil fuels.
