The County required each Town and City to respond. We agreed on our recommended text to send to the Fairfax Town council for their consideration. This will be considered by them at their upcoming December council meeting.
Our friends at Sustainable Fairfax are hosting No-Waste November this month - an incredibly important initiative, given the percentage of our emissions that come from our waste stream. Check them out here: They are also running a series of very helpful Community Chats, giving us invaluable information for reducing our personal and collective climate footprints. Click HERE for recordings of past and coming events.
On November 9, the CAC hosted a Community Emergency Conversation to talk about the Transportation Section of our upcoming Climate Action Plan.
We will hold our next Community Emergency Conversation to talk about Building Energy on Monday, December 14, from 6:30 - 7:30. Please come and help us develop our strategy.
And, we will have our next Climate Action Committee Meeting on Tuesday, December 15, from 7-9 (the link will be put up on the CAC website soon).
Finally, we will having the first day of a 2day Climate Retreat to think deeply about what we can accomplish, as a Town, over the course of 2021, and prepare our budget request to the Town Council. That first meeting will occur on Saturday, December 19. All of these meetings will be held by ZOOM; we invite you all to join us.
We have a new President now, and one who is committed to following the Science. The Science says that we must cut our collective climate footprint 50% by 2030. We have a lot of work to do, and we are trying to get it done.
This is going to take all of us. Join us, if you can.
Thanks!
