Hello! Welcome to the Climate Action Committee of Fairfax's home page. We are here and of service to help you go more green! Why?
Fairfax has pledged to be a zero emission town by 2030!
It's not only about doing what's right, it actually feels great to be part of the solution. That's what keeps us going and we'd love to help you try out some tactics to cut down on your carbon footprint and get your good mood boosted.
There are two simple ways you can enjoy being a part of this goal ...
One is to go Deep Green.
You may wonder what that is. It means signing up for MCE Deep Green. MCE is a not-for-profit energy provider and their Deep Green program provides all your electricity from 100% renewable sources. That means when you turn on a light, use the microwave, or charge your electric vehicle, the energy will not be from fossil fuels at all. How cool is that? It's so easy to sign up and takes only a few minutes. To find out more and get your energy from 100% renewable sources, go here.
Speaking of charge your electric vehicle, the other way you can sleep more soundly knowing you're part of making our town zero emissions is to opt for zero-emissions transportation. Sure, an electric car is part of that, but so is biking, walking, consolidating your trips if you have a gas vehicle, and taking public transportation. It's a change, and those can be challenging, but take it from us—it feels great to finally be done with a stinky car or use it way less and get out there on bike or foot. It's healthier, too! To find out more go here.
Why are we focused on these two tactics? Because the two biggest footprints in our town are utilities and transportation. Starting now to get used to taking steps to culling those footprints will mean you're part of going green together by being an active participant in reaching your town's pledge goal.
If you have any questions, just reach out—we are here to serve our favorite neighbors in our favorite town on Earth. You can contact us here. We VERY much look forward to hearing from you.
